Victorian Integrated Survey of Travel and Activity (VISTA09)
Project Description
Following successful completion of the VISTA07 survey, TUTI (in association with I-view Pty Ltd) was appointed by the Victorian Department of Transport to design and conduct the Victorian Integrated Survey of Travel and Activity (VISTA09) in 2009-10. The survey cover the Melbourne metropolitan area, plus the regional city areas of Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Shepparton and the Latrobe Valley. The survey will be conducted over 12 months from July 2009 through July 2010, and will obtain responses from a total of 10,000 complete households.
The format of the survey is very similar to that adopted for the VISTA07 survey conducted by TUTI and I-view, and is based on the use of a self-completion activity/travel diary for 1 day, supported by personal delivery and pickup of the questionnaires. The VISTA09 survey uses the Speedit program (Survey Program for Entering and Editing Data Involving Travel) for interactive data entry, geocoding and data editing, and the HotSpot program (Household Travel Survey Program for Operational Techniques) to control the day to day administration of the survey. Both programs have been developed by TUTI and refined in several surveys over the past few years.
Further details about the survey can be found on the FAQ page for the survey on this website.
