Household Activity & Time-Use Patterns
Project Description
It is now well accepted that travel demand is a function of the underlying activity patterns that give rise to the need for travel. Despite this, relatively little analysis has been performed in Australia on the relationship between activity and travel patterns. This is despite the fact that Australia has one of the better databases of time use and activity patterns collected over many years by the ABS. This project uses the 1992 and 1997 Time Use Surveys to investigate the time use and activity patterns of typical households and relates these findings to the travel pattern findings obtained from typical household travel surveys.
