South-East Queensland Travel Survey 2006-08 (SEQTS06)
The Cathedral Range from the TUTI office at Taggerty
Project Description

Following the completion of the South-East Queensland Travel Surveys in 2004 for Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast, Queensland Transport decided to adopt a continuous survey format from 2006 onwards. TUTI (in association with I-view Pty Ltd) has recently been appointed by Queensland Transport and Main Roads to design and conduct the South-East Queensland Travel Survey from 2006 through 2008. The 2006 survey is within the Brisbane Statistical Division, while the later surveys will be conducted on the coasts. The Brisbane surveys were conducted in May-June 2006, and will obtain responses from 1500 complete households. The Sunshine Coast survey is being conducted in March-May 2007 and will collect data from 2000 households, while the Gold Coast survey will commence later in 2007.

The format of the new surveys will be very similar to that adopted for the 2003-04 surveys (to enable ease of comparison and/or aggregation of the data), and will be based on the use of a self-completion activity/travel diary for 1 day, supported by personal delivery and pickup of the questionnaires.  The new surveys will use the Speedit program (Survey Program for Entering and Editing Data Involving Travel), which has been used in recent surveys in Melbourne, Auckland and Christchurch. It will also use the HotSpot (Household Travel Survey Program for Operational Techniques) program which controls the logistics of the survey.
