South-East Queensland Retirement Travel Survey (SEQRETS)
Project Description
In parallel with the South-East Queensland Travel Survey being conducted on the Sunshine Coast, TUTI (in association with I-view Pty Ltd) has been appointed by Queensland Transport and Main Roads to design and conduct a Pilot Survey of travel patterns of residents in Retirement Villages on the Sunshine Coast. These residents are often under-represented in conventional household travel surveys, but are of particular importance on the SEQ Coasts because of the tendency of older people from around Australia to retire to these areas.
The format of the new surveys will be very similar to that adopted for the 2006-08 surveys being conducted by TUTI in South-East Queensland, and will be based on the use of a self-completion activity/travel diary for 1 day, supported by personal delivery and pickup of the questionnaires. The survey instrument and the field procedures will however be modified to meet the needs of residents in retirement villages. The survey will be conducted in 7 retirement villages on the Sunshine Coast and will aim to obtain responses from about 150 households.
