Perth and Regions Travel Survey (PARTS)
Project Description
Travel surveys have been conducted in Perth in 1976 and 1986, and a new continuous survey is being conducted over 4 years from 2002 to 2006.
Data Analysis Australia, with design assistance from The Urban Transport Institute, have been appointed by the Western Australia Department for Planning and Infrastructure to design and conduct the survey. The survey uses a self-completion questionnaire, which is hand-delivered and hand-collected from sampled households in the Perth region.
A Pilot Survey was conducted in May-June 2002 and, as a result of this Pilot, the survey methodology was changed from mailout and mailback of questionnaires to the personal delivery and collection system now being used in the main survey. The main survey commenced in October 2002, and data from 4000 responding households was collected in the first year of the survey. The survey is expected to run till October 2006.
