Melbourne Area Travel Survey (MATS)
The Cathedral Range from the TUTI office at Taggerty
Project Description

The Urban Transport Institute, in conjunction with I-view Pty Ltd, has been appointed by the Victorian Department of Infrastructure to design and conduct the Melbourne Area Travel Survey.

The first stage of the MATS survey was conducted in late-2004 in various areas of Melbourne. The survey uses a self-completion questionnaire, which is hand-delivered and hand-collected from households across the region. The survey design shares many features with the South-East Queensland Travel Survey (SEQTS) and the North-Eastern Suburbs Travel Survey (NESTS) also conducted by TUTI and I-view.
