The Urban Transport Institute Pty Ltd (TUTI) is a small research consultancy founded in 1998 based in Victoria, Australia, specialising in various aspects of transport and environmental analysis and planning. While TUTI works on various projects in the transport and environmental fields, it specialises in three major areas:
- the design, conduct, analysis and quality audits of large-scale travel surveys
- analysis and evaluation of travel behaviour change programs
- the evaluation of the external environmental effects of transport systems
TUTI draws on the extensive individual experience of the joint Directors of the firm (Dr. Tony Richardson and Ms. Rita Seethaler) who have a combined total of over 50 years experience in transport planning and research. Both Directors have had management responsibility for many large-scale projects, and have shown an ability to deliver results of value to clients in accordance with project budgets and timeframes. They have also designed, prepared and presented a range of teaching materials (both individually and in collaboration).
The Urban Transport Institute works on local, national and international projects. It has current and recent projects in Victoria, other states of Australia, in the USA, UK, Switzerland, New Zealand, Singapore and Africa.
In contrast to its name, The Urban Transport Institute operates from offices near the small rural town of Taggerty, about 120km north-east of Melbourne. The view of the Cathedral Range from the TUTI office is the picture at the top-left of each page of this web-site. Such a location gives the staff of TUTI an environment in which they can fully contemplate innovative solutions to clients' problems.
